Ben's Casual Dining in Jackson, GA

There we were, ready to try a new restaurant in a new town, Jackson, GA per recommendation from a local. The sign on the outside read "Fried Green Tomatoes, 2 Sirloin Steaks and 2 sides, $25" , mmmm...so we stop in to try it for dinner.  It was a long day of work and I was ready to relax and enjoy some steak. Can't beat the price either.

So we get seated by a nice young lady in what looks like a nice, relaxing dining room and a few seconds later our waitress shows up for our drink order.  My fiance gets a sweet tea and I order a strawberry daiquiri and a water.  In my opinion, my daiquiri was way too overpriced ($6.50) for the size (10-12oz) it was, but I was willing to succumb to the inflation, cause it was good.  Then our waitress brings out the little plates for our fried green tomato appetizer and I ask her where the salad bar is located.  She tells me and proceeds to get us a salad plate.  The salad was also included in the special.  She comes back with two large plates for the salad bar and as she is putting them on the table one of the plates accidentally slips through her hands and continues to fall across the table, knocking my fiance's tea over and into his lap. 3/4 of the 32 oz tea spills all over him and his pants.  Poor thing, I felt bad, but it was also funny.  He was a good sport, he didn't get pissy at the waitress or start to bitch. There were about 4 employees running to his aid to help clean it up and the waitress did apologize for the mishap.

It is almost like he just got off of a wet ride at Disney.  He reluctantly gets up to get his salad, but is feeling a little embarrassed with the wet clothes.  Our appetizers are delivered and we are both eating our salads and unfortunately with the tea mishap and wet clothes, my fiance was unable to enjoy his dinner.  He ate it and I ate mine and they were both good, but all throughout the meal the staff kept coming by cracking jokes about the tea incident and even the manager had to come by, ask if we needed anything and proceeded to crack a joke about the tea too.

Now, I'm not going to ask the restaurant to comp my meal or his for that matter based on an accident, but the waitress could've been more apologetic, they could have offered to give us a discount, give him his drink free or even just give him a Ben's shirt to change in to so he could try to enjoy the rest of his meal.  The waitress knew we were from out of town and the way things turned out they did not do anything that would make me come back next time I pass through or to even recommend the place.  The food was not out of this world , gotta come back for more type of food.

I would have to say that our experience at Ben's Casual Dining Restaurant was below average and very disappointing.  Customer Service is not their specialty.
